About The Author
Author: Jim
The author has been looking for morel mushrooms starting with his parents down in southeast Indiana, in the mid 1940’s where
Russell and Dorothy would carry Jim into the woodlot, set him on a log or stump while they picked Morel mushrooms while in easy view of him.
From these early ventures into the woods Jim carried his love for Morel mushrooms with him to Livonia, Michigan in the fall of 1965, as a Science Teacher. It wasn’t very long before he applied the knowledge and experience gained in Indiana to the ar- eas around Livonia and Ann Arbor, later on to northern Michigan.
Soon Jim’s parents were traveling up to Michigan to join son Jim, as their guide to find Morel mushrooms, taking back 500-1000 Morels to conduct the annual Morel mushroom dinner for what had grown to 25+ friends in Brookville, Indiana.
In The Morel Mushroom Book, Jim will share his knowledge and his special spots with you. If you follow his explanations and instructions, finding and preparing Morel mushrooms will be an enjoyable and successful activity for you and your family. You may well step into some of Jim and the family’s footprints, as you will be directed to the same woods that they hunted for over 30 years and where Jim and Sandi still enjoy collecting the much sought after delicacy.
